From the Stands to the Stage: A Day at Twickenham I’ll Never Forget
This Tuesday wasn’t just another tick on the calendar, it was an all-out, pinch-me moment. I had the immense honour (and slight terror) of being invited to speak at the Women’s Rugby World Cup staff conference at Twickenham. Yes, that Twickenham, the home of rugby! The invite came courtesy of none other than the phenomenal Sarah Massey, Managing Director of the Women’s Rugny World Cup 2025 and general powerhouse of positivity.
Picture this: over 150 brilliant minds buzzing with energy, all driving the engine behind one of the most inspiring sporting events in the world. And there I was, mic in hand, trying not to trip over my own excitement (or nerves).
Nick Heath, the ever-lovely host with the most, guided our on-stage chat with the ease of someone who could probably commentate a royal wedding and make it sound like a Six Nations final. Together, we delved into everything from my past experiences and events, to what lies ahead, and highlighting the incredible work done by ChildFund-Rugby. Whilst delving into carrying the 'Race to Womens Rugby World Cup Whistle!
Now, I’ve messaged a little with some of these fantastic people online, but meeting legends like Alex Teasdale (England Rugby), Jenny Smith (World Rugby), and the wonderful Becs Leach in person? Game changer. And seeing Sarah Cox again, referee extraordinaire and all-around wonder woman, was the cherry on top.
And Sarah Massey? She’s the kind of leader who walks into a room and somehow makes everyone feel like the most important person there. Her energy is contagious, her vision is inspiring, and honestly, I’m still riding the high of just being in her orbit.
Of course, I didn’t go it alone. Theresa, awesome friend, and organisational wizard, came along too. She’s been a behind-the-scenes hero since the early days of last year’s event, making things happen with grit, grace, and a lot of late nights. Seeing her in that room, where she definitely belongs, among the best of the best, felt like the full-circle moment we didn’t know we were heading toward.

As for me... I spoke, I shared, I may have choked up (just a little!), and I left with a full heart and slightly sore cheeks from all the smiling.
So, thank you Sarah, thank you team, thank you Twickenham, you’ve gifted me a memory I’ll treasure forever. And to everyone who made me feel so supported, and like I belonged in that room: I’m so greatful.
Plus bonus: Our team won the quiz as well! (Go team Canada!).
